MICROCHIP IDENTIFICATION

Microchip identification has become a very popular and safe way to permanently identify your pet in the unfortunate case your pet is lost.
A small electronic microchip about the size of a grain of rice is implanted beneath the skin typically in the area around an animal's shoulder blades. This procedure is done by a veterinary surgeon.

Once the microchip is in place, the number on the chip can be read with a hand-held scanner, and that number is matched with contact information for a pet's owner.

Should your pet become lost or stolen, the microchip number can be easily scanned at a veterinary clinic or animal shelter using a hand held scanner. Microchip identification has been instrumental in reuniting hundreds of lost pets with their families.

Implanting of a microchip can be performed when your pet is awake and does not hurt any more than a needle that is used to vaccinate your pet. Commonly, people will choose to microchip their pet when he or she comes in for their elective neutering.

We advise you to use this system of identification as well as a collar identification system on your pets.
