The best advice is to research the species thoroughly before owning one so you can make sure you are in a position to provide the right care, food, housing, and environment for them and know how to handle them with care. There are a number of excellent websites and books available on the subject. |
There are too many exotic pets to list but some more commonly owned ones are snakes, lizards, newts, frogs, tortoises, turtles, and spiders.
For the protection of exotic pets there are Laws, Rules and Regulations (continually updated) in place about owning one, so it is important to look into this personally and not rely on the place/person you are buying them from.
