Personally, we feel extremely thankful that we have the opportunity and the ability to do the ultimate kindness for our patients - to end their needless suffering. The most important thing to consider at all times is the quality of life a pet is experiencing – this is what matters most! When all other options have been explored, and we know that a pet is not going to get better, is suffering, or the pets quality of life is affected then euthanasia is the kindest and most unselfish thing that we can do for them. The suffering an animal is experiencing might not be visible or obvious to you and not all treatment is kind and compassionate. .
Sadly some veterinary surgeons recommend the route of continuous treatment and testing (expensive for owners, and not always an ethical purpose) without putting quality of life first and they may also make an owner feel bad if they don’t want to follow their advice to test and treat. We will not allow this to occur at our practice and any veterinary surgeon hired in the future will be required to put quality of life first. We know how difficult it can be for pet owners to make some decisions and we assure you that we will always take as much time as you feel necessary to help you understand the illness or injury and reach the best decision.
It has always been, and will always be our policy and our philosophy to do what is best for the animal. We will perform humane euthanasia for pets that are suffering. Sometimes, it is extremely difficult to know when "the right time" has come, especially when dealing with chronic conditions. Pets can’t speak and tell us what the eye doesn’t see, they will have some good days, and some bad days, and the decision of when to euthanise can be a devastating one for the entire family. We will work together with you to help you make the most humane and loving choice for your pet.
We understand that unique relationship that exists between people and their pets – the very special human-animal bond and love you share. And we understand that when you lose a beloved pet it hurts and you may experience the same kind of grief that you would if you would if you lost a human friend.
We have dedicated a Client Care Room for this purpose. We have been told by many clients that it is something they are very thankful for. Having privacy and time is what we provide with as much care and comfort as possible. Please ask to visit this room and see what thought and care we have put into it. Any veterinary surgeon working for us will be expected to provide the exact same service as we do.
We care deeply about you and your pet at this difficult time.
Warmest regards,
John and Margaret |
