Emergencies are never convenient, but at Polden Hills Veterinary Centre we want to make sure that our clients have the security of knowing that no matter when an emergency occurs – there will always be someone to help you. |
We (John Smith and Margaret Walker) live on the premises and do not outsource for the emercency service we provide. |
Your pet should be seen urgently if he/she:
- Is having difficulty or laboured breathing
- Is unconscious
- Has not urinated or defecated
- Is having difficulty urinating
- Has diarrhoea
- Is having difficulty walking
- Is lethargic
- Has a distended abdomen
- Has significant bleeding
- Is in pain
- Or is behaving in any unusual way

Call us immediately at 01278 722088. If after hours please hold and wait until you are connected to the paging service.

| EMERGENCY IN REGULAR CLINIC HOURS |
If an emergency happens during regular clinic hours your pet will be seen with utmost priority.
If possible please call to let us know you are coming in so that we may prepare for the emergency. |
| AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY
There is an additional fee charged for after hours emergencies.
In Case of Emergency after regular office hours:
- Try to remain calm.
- Protect your pet from any further harm—being careful not to be bitten or scratched.
- Dial 01278 722088 and follow the instructions below.

INSTRUCTIONS
- After calling the veterinary centre’s number 01278 722088 you will hear an answer message.
- PLEASE HOLD and your call will be forwarded to a PAGING SERVICE where you leave your name, number, and a short message (please make sure your telephone number is clear in your message).
- A veterinary surgeon will be paged and will return your message as quickly as possible.
The mobile phone reception in the area is very poor and unreliable so we use a reliable paging service.
We will always ensure your pet is seen and your questions are answered. No question or concern is silly or too small. We understand your anxiety and are here for you! |
